Credit Union Christmas Pageant
On May 1, 1996, the parent company of John Martins sold the Pageant to the State Government of South Australia. The Pageant is now managed on behalf of the State Government by Australian Major Events, a division of the South Australian Tourism Commission.
The Government sought assistance from the business community to ensure the future of this beloved Christmas event and in 1996, gained the whole-hearted support of the South Australian Credit Unions as the naming rights sponsor of the Pageant.
The six proud sponsors of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant are: Australian Central Credit Union, Savings & Loans Credit Union, CPS Credit Union, Police Credit Union, PowerState Credit Union, and Satisfac Credit Union.
The Credit Unions provide their staff as "Pageant People" along with significant joint marketing and promotions efforts.
Almost 1,000 people from the Credit Unions provide character roles and clowns. South Australian bands (including our famous Police Band), marching girls and dance troupes make up the remainder of more than 1,300 people in the Pageant.
The Credit Unions are proud to continue this Adelaide tradition, bringing smiles to crowds of children and adults alike with this colourful spectacle each year.
